These ratings are based on our sample of 474,922 individual listings
at Google News by 4635 sites for 1976 news items during 2006, and
27,921 listings by 1669 sites for 208 news items year to date 2007.

Top sites for Iraq news since the U.S. midterm elections
Debate about Iraq has been a major news topic since the midterm
elections. Newsknife has spotted 90 Iraq-related news items at Google
News during this period.

a news site could aim for.

Newsknife as No.1 source in the first Top Story, and the second

on their home page and thirty on each sub-page, all "sorted
by relevance". We award each site points per appearance on
a sliding scale (with occasional tweaking) to get the ranked positions.
The second column is the number of appearances we recorded as the
first source for a news item. The full lists of 86 and 455 sites
are in the Newsknife Members' Area.
